Program Overview

Starting out as a therapist can feel exciting, but also overwhelming. Many clinicians enter the field with strong academic knowledge but little real-world experience navigating the challenges that arise in session.

Even for seasoned clinicians, there are times when you may feel stuck/uncertain about how to move forward with a client, questioning your confidence, or struggling to find balance in your professional life.

The Therapist Mentorship Program is a 6-month structured mentorship journey designed to bridge those gaps. Through bi-weekly 1:1 mentorship sessions and monthly group consultations, you’ll receive the guidance, support, knowledge, and confidence-building tools you need to strengthen your skills, move past challenges, and thrive in your career.

Guidance for Real-World Challenges of Therapy

For New Clinicians — or Those Feeling Stuck

As a therapist, you may find yourself asking:

  • How do I respond to high-risk situations? (suicidal clients, active psychosis, domestic violence, or crisis scenarios)

  • How do I balance my work and personal life? How do I manage my own challenges while still showing up fully for my clients?

  • What’s next for me? I feel stuck — unsure if I should stay in agency work, move toward private practice, or explore another path.

  • In what ways am I unprepared? Many new clinicians discover gaps in training when it comes to real-world practice — from managing risk to navigating career decisions.

  • The Therapist Mentorship Program is designed to help you address these questions head-on. Over six months, you’ll receive bi-weekly 1:1 mentorship and monthly group consultation, giving you practical strategies, confidence-building support, and career direction so you can move forward with clarity.

What You’ll Gain

  • Case Consultation & Clinical Support – Practical strategies for when you feel stuck, including how to respond to high-risk or complex clients, anticipate risk, and strengthen your clinical decision-making.

  • Career Direction & Growth – Guidance in choosing the path that fits you best — whether that’s private practice, agency leadership, or another clinical role. Topics include credentialing, liability insurance, forms, EHRs, and even group contracting with commercial insurance if that’s your direction.

  • Resilience & Professional Balance – Tools to manage stress, prevent burnout, and integrate personal well-being with professional demands.

  • Supportive Community – A safe, respectful environment where you feel heard and valued. Gain the reassurance of having a mentor and peers who understand the challenges of the work, so you don’t have to navigate them alone.

Structure

  • Bi-Weekly 1:1 Sessions – Individual mentorship every two weeks (60 minutes, held on Zoom with an option for in-person when available).

  • Monthly Group Consultation – A small, supportive group setting (90 minutes, case-based discussion and peer learning).

  • Six-Month Journey – A guided program focused on strengthening clinical skills, exploring career growth opportunities, and creating balance between your professional and personal life.

How This Differs From Clinical Supervision

While both supervision and mentorship are valuable, they serve different purposes in a therapist’s professional journey.

Clinical Supervision

  • A formal requirement for licensure

  • Focuses on meeting state board standards and clinical competencies

  • Primarily evaluates performance and documentation for compliance

  • Supervisor holds legal and ethical responsibility for your work

Mentorship (What This Program Offers)

  • Not tied to licensure requirements, open to newly licensed or already practicing therapists

  • A safe, supportive space to ask questions you may not feel comfortable bringing to supervision or management

  • Focuses on career development, confidence building, and real-world problem-solving (e.g., high-risk clients, private practice setup, work–life balance)

  • Provides case consultation and guidance without the evaluative pressure of supervision

  • Empowers you to feel more secure, respected, and prepared as a clinician

In short: Supervision is about meeting requirements. Mentorship is about growth, support, and confidence. **This program complements but does not replace supervision.**
